Tomatoes

All tomato seeds are organically grown in healthy soil with no use of pesticides or chemical fertilizers. The seed are of the best quality, selected by hand from the second truss of minimum 5 plants of each variety. Only fully mature disease free tomatoes have been used for seed. The seeds are fermented to avoid any disease that could be spread with the seeds. Note I have a limited quantity of tomato seeds in stock; choose an alternative sort with your order.

 

Agata

This strain is quite popular with some commercial growers. Low ca 60 cm high plant, good producer of flat round midsize tomatoes. This strain is one of the most common non-hybrid tomatoes that are growing in Greece.

Alba

This is a little tiny small plant with quite big tasty tomatoes in trusses of 6 – 15 on each, ca 70 cm high with 28 cm long and 15 – 20 cm wide leaf. Give the plant some support so the tomatoes don’t lay directly on the ground. Healthy tomatoes with a good selflife, the tomatoes have a fresh good taste with a nice aftertaste. When the tomatoes start to mature they have a white colour and finally when they are fully mature they have a nice red colour. This Russian strain is well adapted to cold weather and gives a good harvest even in cool weather. A good strain for short season areas.

Alaska

Early healthy plant with a good tolerance against cold weather, little tiny stem that don’t grow so big, ca 140-150 cm high, sparsely with 30-33 cm long and 22 cm wide leafs. Good harvest of midsize tomatoes in trusses of 7-15 with a fresh light sourish good taste. The tomatoes have a little thick skin and a long self-life.

Alladins Lamp

Very healthy Russian plant with a thin strong stem, low plant, ca 120-140 cm high, thin leafs ca 20-25 cm long. Pearshape yellow (light orange when fully mature) tomatoes with little seeds, harvest when they are still light yellow for best taste. Juicy almost shiny yellow flesh and yellow gel around the seeds, mild good taste. The tomato juice has a nice colour and look like orange juice.

Amish Paste Heirloom

Old tomato strain, the plant has a strong but tiny stem that grows over 250 cm high; sparsely with ca 40-45 cm long leafs on the plant. Elongated heart/plum shape almost seedless meaty tomatoes on long trusses, some grows on (cut), juicy very fresh taste with little acid. This plant need a good amount of compost in the soil to develop good, it could need some help with the pollination to. One good way is to us an electric toothbrush; if you lift the flowering tomato truss easy with the backside of the electric toothbrush the pollination will be better.

Amish Salad

Little tiny plant with 20-25 cm long and 16-18 cm wide leafs. Short trusses with 6-8 oval cherry tomatoes on each with a fresh good taste.

Ananas

Good plant that doesn’t grow so big, ca 140 cm high with a strong steady stem, ca 32 cm long and 30 cm wide leafs. Big long trusses with 12-17 tomatoes, higher up on the plant the trusses grow close to the stem with 3-6 tomatoes, some trusses grows on (cut). Big very nice looking tomatoes that are a feast for the eye, light yellow with red stripes, yellow flesh and the middle are pink/red. The tomatoes are very meaty with little seeds; with a little fantasy the flesh almost look like an ananas. The tomatoes have a mild full-bodied good taste with little acid and a sweet little fruity smell. Start harvest when the tomatoes beginning to have red stripes. The flesh is crispy and good to eat, fully mature the flesh are softer and little mealy. Try to serve this tomato in slices with little sea salt and a fruity olive oil. Soldout

Robust plant from high altitude in the Andes, the plant doesn’t seem to care much about bad and cold weather. Unbelievable big covering leaf that can grow over 70 cm long, but most of the leaf are 50-60 cm long and 50-60 cm wide. Healthy ca 200 cm high plant with steady and very strong stem, the leaf covers the plant well. Cut of some of the lowest leaf for better air circulation around the base. Big blocky orange/red tomatoes that look like sweet peppers, in trusses of 6-9, some double tomatoes higher up on the plant. The plant gives a big yield of tasty almost seedless juicy tomatoes, very meaty with a well-balanced fresh taste. Eat the tomatoes fresh or use them for cooking, you don’t have to cook them for long to have a tasty sauce. Try to grow this strain in single rows with 50-60 cm between the plants and give them good support. The plant needs a good amount of compost in the soil to develop well. Some tomatoes are very long, ca 17-18 cm and look like a cow horn. One of my favourite. Soldout

Angora cherry

This is a nice ca 180 cm high plant with tiny stem. Normal leafs, not silver/grey like angora. Thin small leafs ca 20 cm long. Many trusses with ca 30 small tasty tomatoes, juicy sweet good taste. Immature tomatoes look like green gooseberries.

Angora Supersweet

Robust ca 200 cm high plant with a strong fuzzy silver/grey stem, thick ca 35 cm long fuzzy leafs. The plant is very healthy and productive, small little fuzzy juicy and sweet tomatoes on long trusses with ca 15 on each, some double trusses higher up on the plant with ca 40 tasty tomatoes on each. This is a very ornamental plant; try to grow some as a solitaire. The strain don’t seem to be 100% stabile, some plants get regular leafs but they are easy to take away when the plant are small. Grow well in cold temperature and usually survive very low night temperature in the end of the season.

Aunt Ruby's German Green

This is an old green tomato strain with German origin, quite high growing strain with midsize to big green beefsteak tomatoes, short trusses with 5-6 on each. The tomatoes stay green; fully mature they get a light lime green colour. Most of the tomatoes are very meaty with firm flesh, small seed chambers that are filled with light green gel; some of the tomatoes are meaty right through. Good eating quality with a little different individual taste. The tomatoes have a long self-life and keeps well.

Banana Legs

This is a highly productive nice looking plant, ca 80-90 cm high. Yellow elongated (banana shape) very meaty tomatoes with high dry matter on big trusses with 10-20 tomatoes on each; taste better if the plant grows on a dry place. Firm tomatoes that give the salad a nice colour touch, perfect strain to do yellow ketchup with.

Besser

This old German strain from the end of 1800 is a good example of a lucky cross; there are not many new strains that can compare with this strain today. The plant grows to ca 170 – 180 cm with a thin strong stem, 27 – 30 cm long and ca 26 cm wide leaf. This plant don’t take much room properly prune and you could grow them quite close to each other in a row. Long trusses with ca 15 – 16 cocktail tomatoes on each, the tomatoes has a good little crispy consistency and a very good taste with a good mellow taste that stays in the mouth for a long time.

Betta

Short early Russian plant that look like a smaller version of Siberia, 50-55 cm high with small 12-15 cm long leaf. This strain grow well in cool weather and set fruit in very low temperature, good production of tasty midsize tomatoes in trusses of 6-7. Give the plant partial shade in the middle of the day when the sun is strongest. Good plant for short season area.

Beduin

Healthy potato leaf plant, don’t grow so big, ca 160 cm high on a tiny stem that need good staking for the weight of the tomatoes. Good yield of very juicy tomatoes in trusses of 5-6, some double tomatoes, meaty with mild good taste. Purple to brown/red tomatoes with dark green shoulders. Sparsely with 22-30 cm long leafs. The tomatoes look almost like red Anjou pears.

Bison Heirloom

Early high yielding plant, popular when it was introduced in 1937, short ca 80 cm high bushy plant with 15-20 cm long leafs. Tasty midsize meaty tomatoes in big trusses with ca 12-15 on each, good standard tomato that grows well in cool weather.

Black Altai rare

Short little tiny plant with strong steady stem, ca 140 cm high, short ca 20 cm long leafs. Midsize meaty beefsteak tomatoes with few seeds, in trusses of 5-6 each, thin skin that cracks easily but the cracks heals quickly. Juicy and sweet flat round dark orange/red tomatoes with dark green neck and little black shoulders. Unusual strain from Altai Mountains in Siberia, the plant gives a low harvest if it doesn’t like the growing place, need good soil to develop well. Start harvest when the neck is still dark green for best taste.

Black Ethiopian

A productive healthy plant with an strong and steady stem, ca 160-170 cm high, big 35 cm long and 32-35 cm wide leafs. Tomatoes in long trusses with 7-12 on each, some have an extra leaf in the end of the truss. Little different in size, from small oval to big almost round tomatoes, and a few are big and flat round. The plant is heavy with tomatoes and need proper staking. The gel around the seeds are blood red when the tomato is fully mature, and when you slice the tomato it almost look like it’s bleeding. Very juicy tomato with a fresh different taste and a slight full-bodied flavour, start harvests the tomatoes when the neck is still dark green for best taste. This strain supposes to come from Ukraine.

Black Krim

Old Russian strain from Krim in the Black Sea, strong ca 170-180 cm high stem and 20-25 cm long leafs that cover good. Little different tomato shapes on the same plant, first big juicy beefsteaks (double flowers in the beginning), later big smooth slight flat round tomatoes, and some are little ribbed. Tomatoes high up on the plant that got much sun are darker with green neck, otherwise not so much of a green neck. Meaty tomatoes with little seeds, sweet tasty slight smoky flavour.

Black Krim Select

Big meaty tomatoes with little seeds, otherwise like Black Krim but with bigger leaf and tomatoes, ca 185-195 cm high and 30-35 cm ling wide leafs that cover well. Good very juicy tomatoes with a tasty little smoky flavour, needs much sun to have a real dark colour.

Black Potatoleaf rare

This is a rare potato leaf selection of Black Krim. The seed to this strain are collected from a field with black Krim where some of the plants had potato leafs. The grow habit is stabile but 3 - 7 % of the plants have little different tomatoes. Very healthy plant with ca 160-170 cm high strong stem, big 33 cm long leafs. Big meaty tomatoes with little seeds, slight flat round to little oval shape. Dark red tomatoes with a black touch and green to brown/red neck. Nice tomatoes with mild full-bodied flavour.

Black Pear

A quite small potato leaf strain, the plant are a good producer of midsize pear shape tomatoes in trusses with ca 9-14 on each. The tomatoes are very even and look like small brown/black pears. Meaty tomatoes with a full tasty flavour, brown/red flesh with green and blood red gel around the seeds. Keeps well and dry easily.

Black Plum

Big very strong plant, grow over 200 cm on thick steady stem. Big leaf 40-46 cm long and 35 cm wide that cover the plant well. High production of meaty paste tomatoes in trusses of 7-11, sometimes with one leaf in the end of the truss, some trusses need pruning, they want to grow on. The tomatoes have a plum/oval shape with mild good taste, dark red/brown inner colour. This is one of the healthiest plants I have seen; most of the time there is almost not a single spot on the plant. There are several tomato strains with the name Black Plum; this Russian strain is one of the better.

Black Russian Heirloom

Old Russian strain, ca 180-190 cm high. Tomatoes in trusses with 5-6, thin leafs ca 35 cm long. Good yield of midsize to big meaty tomatoes with little seeds and brown/red flesh. Juicy with a slight smoky flavour, good balanced flavour. One of the better for taste.

Black Prince

Big ca 180 cm high plant from Irkutsk in Siberia, ca 25 cm long leafs that not cover so well. The plant give a good yield of many mid to normal size tomatoes in short trusses of 5-6 on each. Round to oval dark tomatoes with a dark green neck. Juicy sweet tasty tomatoes with a good aftertaste, the plant needs good staking. If the plant gets a good start with little compost in the soil it will grow well almost everywhere. This strain is well adapted to cool climate.

Black Tom (Alderberg) rare

Short plant with a thick stem, ca 140-150 cm high and 25-29 cm long leafs. Tomatoes in trusses of 6-12 on each, many trusses want to grow on (cut). The tomatoes are big and beefy to smaller smother tomatoes, some with a navel. Red with a black touch with dark green neck, fresh good slight full-bodied taste, and juicy little creamy texture on the flesh when the tomato is fully mature. The big tomatoes from double flowers don’t hold for long, best pick while the neck is still light green. Branchy plant that need proper pruning.

Black Zebra

A quite new very fine tomato, first it looks like Tom Wagner’s Green Zebra, then a light orange colour with green stripes, (almost camouflage painted). Fully mature the colour transfer to a darker red/orange colour with green/brown stripes. The plant has a stron steady stem with 40-45 cm long and 50 cm wide leafs. Normal size and some double tomatoes in trusses of 7-11 on each. Firm meaty tomatoes with dark red/brown flesh, tasty little acid taste, and fully mature; mild with a slight smoky flavour.

Britains Breakfast

Unique very high yielding English strain. Short strong tiny stem, ca 140 cm high with 30-40 cm long wide leafs that cover good, Mid/normal size lemon/plum shape sweet tasty tomatoes, very healthy plant. I only let one truss develop and cut of all suckers and new flowers above (not the top) the saved truss. The truss grows big and wide with ca 60-70 bright red meaty paste tomatoes on each. The truss have many small extra leafs and flower and flower; I have count to over 1000 flowers on one truss. Put some dry grass or similar under the truss so it not rests directly on the ground, the plant need very little support. Don’t grow this one as a bush tomato; you only get a big wide bush with little tomatoes. If you let more then one truss develop, there is ca 30 % less with tomatoes on every truss above the first one.

Broad ripple yellow currant

A little spindly ca 170 cm high plant with thin ca 24-30 cm long and 20 cm wide leafs. This plant doesn’t take much room and can be planted quite close together in a row. Tomatoes that look like small yellow gooseberries grow in small short trusses with 10 on each. Every plant could produce a lot of small firm tasty tomatoes. A perfect strain to us as garnish in a meaty salad etc. Try too warm them quickly in little olive oil, add little sea salt and eat them as they are. But probably don’t many of these tomatoes find there way in to the kitchen, they disappear easily in the mouth every time you walk by the plant. In the picture on the left the tomato are in front of a Golden Ponderosa tomato. John Hartman introduces this strain.

Bordo

This is really a robust looking plant with a thick and steady stem, ca 150-160 cm high with big ca 37 cm long and 32-35 cm wide leafs that cover well. Midsize nice little different tomatoes in trusses with mostly 6 on each, the tomatoes are very meaty, dark brown/red colour with green gel around the seed. Strange taste, first mild then sharp that chance to a mild full-bodied flavour that not leave the mouth in the first place.

Caspian Pink

Cherni Princ

This is the commercial strain of Black Prince, there is no big different from the original from Irkutsk, ca 180 cm high with a strong stem. The plant is healthy and grows well in cool weather. The tomatoes grow in clusters of 7 on each, some double occur with 14 tomatoes on each, little different size on the tomatoes that have a fresh light full-bodied good taste. A healthy and easy to grow plant that not needs much attention to give a good harvest.

Big high plant that grows over 250 cm, very steady thick stem, 35 cm long and 30 cm wide leafs that cover well. Midsize plum shape very even tomatoes on long trusses with 8-10 on each, some trusses want to grow on (cut). Meaty tomatoes with good taste, productive very healthy plant from Irkutsk in Siberia.

Debarao Black

A steady high growing plant with a thick strong stem that grows over 200 cm high, ca 42 cm long wide leafs that cover well, in long trusses with ca 8-10 on each. The little oval shape tomatoes have a nice red/black colour with black/green shoulders and brown/red flesh, meaty and juicy tomatoes with a mild full flavour. Little thick-skinned tomatoes that keep well, a good all-round tomato, to dark paste-sauce, in salad, slices on the sandwich etc. Start harvest when the neck is still green for best flavour, to sauce it is better to let the tomatoes be fully mature. This strain supposes to come from Moldova.

Dikaja Rosa ( wild rose )

This is a very productive plant that grows over 200 cm, little thin leafs, 30-35 cm long and 30 cm wide. The plant produce a lot of big pink/red tomatoes on long trusses with 11-18 on each, very meaty and a little bit mealy with good taste. Some of the tomatoes are attach hard to the vine and you need to cut of the biggest tomatoes so they don’t break. Very strong stem but the plant needs good support from the weight of the tomatoes. The plant doesn’t take much space and grow very well in bad weather.

Early Annie Heirloom

Early old strain that is well adapted to cold weather. Strong plant ca 70-80cm high with big 20-28 cm long leafs. Many different shapes on the same plant, from normal size almost round to midsize flat round beefsteaks tomatoes. Some of the tomatoes are attach hard to the vine and must cut loose. Meaty and juicy tomatoes on trusses with 5-12 on each, mild fresh taste, little acid with good full flavours.

Elbe Heirloom

This is an old German potato leaf strain that have been growing since 1889; ca 160-170 cm high with a thick strong stem, 30-35 cm long and 35 cm big wide potato leafs. A healthy strain with big very meaty yellow tomatoes in trusses of 5-14 on each, nice coloured tomatoes with little seeds, light orange when the tomato is fully matures. The tomatoes have a little unusual taste of their one with a good sweet taste. The name comes from the river Elbe in Germany where the tomato supposes to come from. This strain is little late to mature.

Elberta Girl

This is one of Tom Wagner’s nice tomato strains, a 60-80 cm high bush with 18-27 cm long fuzzy little silver coloured leafs. Round to little oval tomatoes in trusses of ca 4-5 on each, very nice little fuzzy and striped tomatoes with tasty creamy flesh. Little late strain that do best in a greenhouse if you grow in a short season area.

Eva Purple Ball

This supposes to be an old German strain from Schwarzwald (black forest) that have been growing since the late 1800. Productive ca 150- 160 cm high plant with a strong stem, 38-45 cm long and ca 40 cm wide covering leafs, trusses of 6-7 tomatoes on each. Big round pink/red tomatoes, fully mature they have a slight purple colour. Very juicy tomatoes with a fresh slight full-bodied taste that last for a while in the mouth. Start harvest when the tomato are still pink/red for best taste, fully mature and over ripe fruits are excellent for tomato juice.

Fruhe Liebe

Short potato leaf plant that grows well in cool and bad weather. The stem is little tiny but strong, ca 100-120 cm high, thin 25-28 cm long leafs. Tomatoes on long trusses with ca 12 on each, good harvest of small to midsize tasty tomatoes, they are little bigger than cocktail tomatoes. The tomatoes have a little strange taste, an intense strong good flavour that disappears very quickly from the mouth, and then you stand there and wonder what happens and take another one. Good salad tomato.

German Red Strawberry

This is an old German tomato strain from Schwarzwald (black forest) that gives an unusual big harvest for this type of tomato, ca 150-160 cm high little tiny stem, ca 38-42 cm long and 30-35 cm wide leafs. Many different shapes and sizes on the tomatoes, but most of them are heart and strawberry shaped with a nice deep reed colour, fully mature they have a nice dark red strawberry colour, but then they are almost over ripe and not so tasty to eat. Very meaty tomatoes with little seeds in strong tiny trusses with 12-18 on each, the tomatoes are attached very hard to the vine. A good food/paste tomato that are best for fresh consumption, start harvest when they are quite light in colour for best taste. Mild taste with a slight full-bodied flavour, taste more in a sauce.

 

 

Short little tiny plant but with a strong and steady stem, ca 100- 120 cm high with 32 cm long and ca 28 cm wide little thin leafs. The plant grows well in cool weather and gives a good harvest of big very meaty gold/yellow beef tomatoes with little seeds. The tomatoes have a little different taste, fresh sweet with alight full-bodied good taste. Start harvest the tomatoes when they still are light yellow for best taste. Some of the tomatoes could grow very big, over 1000 gram, but most of them weight around 350-400 gram each. This strain was introduced 1914 by Peter Hendersson. One of my favourites.

This is a productive and sprawling strain that need proper pruning. Strong stem with 30-33 cm long and 25 cm wide little thick leafs sparsely on the plant, good support for the bigger trussed could be needed so they don’t break. Small shiny oval little blocky tomatoes in long single and double trusses with ca 25-45 on each, higher up on the plant they grow bigger with over 100 tomatoes on each truss. The plant is very healthy and grows well in cool temperature. Nice firm flesh with a fresh little acid good taste, the tomatoes are very good looking and you could almost use them for decoration. Grappoli Corbarino

An Old Italian strain with big grape tomatoes with light full-bodied good taste, trusses with 7-10 on each, they look like small Roma tomatoes. The plant has a strong but little thin stem that needs good support, ca 160-180 cm high with 32 cm long and 28 cm wide thin leafs. Good strain to dry or use for fresh eating.

Green Pineapple Heirloom

A healthy old tomato strain from Ohio, ca 190 cm high with a thick robust stem that need good staking to support the weight from the tomatoes, big wide leafs that cover well, ca 30-35 cm long. This strain growing without any problem and yield good with fruits but can take some time to mature if the weather is bad. Big green beefsteak tomatoes on long strong trusses, many of them want to grow on (cut). Very meaty tomatoes with little seed, fully mature they have a light yellow/green colour with neon green gel around the seeds. Perfect tomato to slice and put on the sandwich, or serve with finely cut onion, a few drops lemon juice, salt, black pepper and some good fruity olive oil, or why not make a tasty green salsa? Very tasty tomatoes with a full-bodied soft taste that fill the whole mouth. One of my favourites.

Gregoris Altai

Short Siberian tomato strain from the Altai Mountains. The plant doesn’t grow so high, ca 110-120 cm with a strong and steady stem, tomatoes on trusses with 6-7 on each. Midsize pink/red beefsteaks tomatoes with very good taste, soft and full-bodied with a real good tomato taste and a strong nice tomato flavour that hit your nose.

High yielding very healthy tomato strain from former East Germany, compact ca 140-165 cm high plant with a strong stem, 32-45 cm long and 30 cm wide leafs that grow closer to each other than usual. Meaty little mealy tomatoes with a mild good taste, trusses with 10 normal size tomatoes on each, some double trusses higher up on the plant with 18-20 tomatoes on each. Good standard tomato that keep well.

Hungarian Italian Paste

 

Early healthy potato leaf plant that is well adapted to cool temperature. This strain supposed to have been collected at high altitude in the Andes (Chile) and later developed in Norway, but I am not sure about that. The plant doesn’t grow so big ca 90-110 cm high, thinly with 25-27 cm long leafs, small little thick-skinned tomatoes on long trusses with 10-16 on each. The tomatoes has a nice bright red colour, mild taste, just like the standard tomato in the shop.

Isis Candy

Tiny plant that need good staking from the heavy weight from the tomatoes. The plant don’t grow so big, ca 160 cm high with 25-30 cm long leafs. Big heart shape tomatoes in strong trusses with 5-10 on each. The tomatoes are meaty right throw with little seeds, very juicy with a mild fresh good taste.

Short ca 90 cm high plant with many ca 30 cm long leafs that covers well. Good production of many round midsize tomatoes, firm flesh, juicy tomatoes with a little sweet fresh taste, healthy tomatoes that keep well. Hungarian strain.

Short bushy plant, ca 50-60 cm high, midsize tomatoes with many chambers, some grows little bigger and look like small beefsteaks tomatoes. Very firm meat with a strong little acid good taste. Hungarian strain.

Short compact plant, ca 50 –70 cm high, 22-28 cm long and 28 cm wide leafs that cover well. Healthy very productive plant, lots of meaty oval/plum shape tomatoes in trusses of 6-8 on each. The tomato has firm thick flesh and a strong good acid taste, for salad, sauce, tomato paste, canning etc. Hungarian strain.

Short semi/determinate Hungarian plant, best grown as a Indeterminate in short season areas, ca 80-130 cm high, 30-40 cm long and 28-38 cm wide leafs sparsely on the plant. Nice round tomatoes in trusses with 5-6 on each (some double with ca 10-12 on each), big meaty tomatoes with firm flesh and little seeds, perfect cooking tomato with good taste.

Korall

Short steady Hungarian bush tomato, ca 60 cm high with a very strong main stem, ca 30-35 cm long and 20 cm wide leafs. A thick stick needs to support the main stem so the plant doesn’t break from the weight of the tomatoes. Mostly round normal size tomatoes in trusses of 5-6 on each, firm meaty tomatoes with a soft nice taste, good standard tomato.

Koritschnevaja Sliva

This is a healthy and easy to grow Russian strain that grow well in bad weather. The plant grows to ca 180 cm with a strong stem that need good support from the weight from the tomatoes, ca 28 – 30 cm long and ca 24 cm wide leafs. Midsize oval red/brown tomatoes with green neck on short trusses with 8 tomatoes on each, some double trusses occur with 16 – 20 tomatoes on each. Good tomatoes with little acid and a good mellow taste that stay in the mouth for a while, a good strain for fresh eating and cooking.

Italian ca 170-190 cm high paste tomato, little thin 28 cm long and 22-25 cm wide leafs. Long trusses with 7-10 on each, oval light red tomatoes with an orange touch, good yielder but little late. The tomatoes have a little mealy flesh with a nice slight full-bodied aftertaste.

This supposes to be an old US native strain; the name means Many Moons and the name probably come from the shape and colour of the tomatoes. Midsize very nice bright yellow tomatoes in small trusses with ca 5-8 on each, tasty little crispy flesh and a rich good tomato taste. Tiny potato leaf plant that doesn’t grow so big, ca 160-170 cm, sparsely with 25-28 cm long leafs. The plant doesn’t take much room and could be planted quite close together in a row. Nice pink/red flat round beefsteak tomatoes with fresh good taste. Small short trusses close to the stem with 5-9 tomatoes on each. The flowers are a little bit similar to Brandywine and Amish Paste; they need some help with the pollination for a good harvest. Mikado is the name Swedish seeds men use in the end of 1800 when they sold the seeds in Sweden.

Montserrat

A nice hollow tomato that look like a flat round light orange sweet pepper or a collapse volcano. The plant has a strong ca 150-160 cm high stem and thinly with 30-33 cm long and 25 cm wide leafs. The tomatoes have a mild sweet good taste; they are quite hollow with firm flesh, easy to fill.

Nadja is a healthy potato leaf plant from former East Germany. Don’t grow so high, ca 160 cm, thin 30-35cm long leafs, midsize tomatoes in trusses of 9-10 on each, some double trusses higher up on the plant. Very tasty tomatoes, sweet good taste. Good and early production of tomatoes, the stem is little tiny and need good support. The plant doesn’t take much room and could be planted close together in a row. Grow well in cold climate.

New Yorker

Short bush tomato, ca 70-90 cm high that give a good harvest of midsize tasty tomatoes with a fresh slight full-bodied taste. Thin ca 25-35 cm long and 20 cm wide leafs, tomatoes in long trusses with 7-12 on each. This strain grows well in cool temperature.

New Zealand Paste

This is an old tomato strain from New Zealand, normal size to big nice pink/purple coloured pear shape paste tomatoes, more like a pear shape beefsteak tomato. Tomatoes in strong compact trusses with 7-20 on each. The tomatoes are very juicy and have a fresh good taste with a slight full-bodied good aftertaste. Good strain to cut in slices, in a salad, to paste sauce etc.

Nikola

Low ca 70-90 cm high not so bushy plant, grows well in cool weather, 26-32 cm long leafs. Juicy normal size tomatoes with a fresh good taste, trusses of 5-6 tomatoes with long self live. The plant is very resistant of cold weather and set fruits on very low temperature. This Russian plant doesn’t like it to hot in the middle of the day. Good strain for short season areas.

Noire Charbonneuse

If you should get in mind to grow a tomato only to sit down and look at, then this old French tomato should be a good choice. This tomato has one of the best colours I have seen, dark shiny purple colour that goes little to wine red or red/brown chocolate with green/black shoulders. The plant don’t grow so high, ca 100-120 cm with a thick strong stem, 30-32 cm long and ca 23 cm wide leafs. Meaty tomatoes with brown/red flesh and a purple coloured centre, firm flesh with a slight creamy texture and crispy skin. The tomatoes have a good eating quality, fresh good taste with little acid and a sweet slight full-bodied aftertaste.

Strong growing healthy plant, over 200 cm high with a thick steady stem, 35-38 cm long little thin leafs. The plant is full of long trusses with olive shape tomatoes, with a strong good taste. Tasty to pick directly from the plant, as long the tomatoes are still on the truss, they hold for long inside. This plant grows very well in cool weather and gives a big harvest of tasty tomatoes.

Omar’s Lebanese

This is a steady plant with a thick strong stem and a quite compact grow habit, ca 140 cm high. The plant has very big ca 45-48 cm long and up to 50 cm wide leafs that covers well. Big beefy firm tomatoes in short trusses with 7-8 on each, the tomatoes are nice coloured right throw with a fresh full-bodied good taste that fill the whole mouth. The tomato reminds more of a oversize normal tomato than a beefsteak tomato, this tomatoes could grow very big, over 1000 gram. The plant doesn’t seem to care much of weather or wind and grow well in cool temperature, but the strain is little late.

Orange Paste

A little unusual tomato whit light orange very nice paste tomatoes, in trusses of ca 6-9 on each, little tiny long stem, ca 180-190 cm high, little thin ca 32-36 cm long and 30 cm wide leafs. Firm nice tomatoes that is very meaty with little seeds and orange gel around the seeds. They have a mild fresh taste and a little mealy consistence that just disappear in the mouth. This is a perfect strain to make orange paste sauce of, a green salad look much fresher and appetizing for the eye with some slices of this nice coloured tomato.

Paw (Peacock)

There is not always a tomato get a proper name, but her have the Polish breeder found a properly name for this strain. The plant don’t grow so big, ca 140 cm high with a strong thick and steady stem, ca 30-32 cm long and 28 cm wide thick leafs. Long ca 30-40 cm trusses that grows upwards and split in two with ca 20-26 normal size tomatoes on each. The trusses grows upwards and split in two, when they start to flower they look like a bird that want to show off the tail, later the trusses get so heavy with tomatoes so they hang down close to the stem. High yield of light pink/red tomatoes with firm flesh, mild taste, but a few drops lemon juice, sea salt and little tasty olive oil take care of that problem.

Pruden's Purple Heirloom

This is a very old strain of tomato, the plant doesn’t grow so high, ca 140-150 cm with 20-25 cm long leafs. Flat ribbed tomatoes in trusses with 5-10 on each, many extra leafs in the trusses. Good yield of tasty little thick skinned juicy tomatoes with a mild acid good taste.

This strain reminds a little bit of Black Prince but it is little shorter ca 160- 170 cm high, ca 32 cm long wide little thin leafs. Oval to slight heart shape tomatoes with green neck and purple coloured top, in compact trusses with 7-8 on each. The tomatoes have a juicy brown/red flesh with green gel around the seeds, good full sweet taste. The plant is very healthy and productive. This strain is sold with several names, probably because of a misspelling in a SSE yearbook, price become prince.

A strong ca 170 cm high plant that are loaded with elongated plum to heart shape tomatoes, in trusses of ca 7 on each, sparsely with 32 cm long wide leaf. This strain doesn’t need much attention to produce a high yield of very juicy meaty tomatoes with a mild good taste. Grow well even in very dry soil.

Very old strain ca 120-150 cm high, similar to yellow and red pear but with meatier flesh and the tomatoes have much better taste.

Radinilee

This plant don’t grow so big, ca 150-160 cm high with 28-35 cm long and ca 30-40 cm wide leafs. Round/oval shape meaty and juicy tomatoes with little seeds, trusses with 6-9 on each, the tomatoes have a soft, full fresh flavour with little acid. This tomato is easy to eat.

Good yielding 170-190 cm high plant, thin 26-28 cm long and 20-22 cm wide leafs. The plant doesn’t take much room and have a strong stem that need good support from the weight of the tomatoes. Big meaty tomatoes with little seeds, in trusses with 7-12 tomatoes on each, little different tomato shapes from little oval to flat round. Juicy tomatoes with a strong good balance taste, in dry weather they have a sweeter taste. This is one of the better tomatoes in taste, one of my favourites.

Roma VF

A well none tomato that are grown by many people, short compact plant with lots of midsize little oval paste tomatoes. Good for fresh eating but are probably most use for ketchup, paste sauce, drying; canning of whole peeled tomatoes etc. The tomatoes are meaty with little seeds and have a light acid full-bodied good taste. VF stands for that the plant are resistant against Verticillium dahliae and Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. Lycopersici.

This is a selection of the popular F1 Santa. Scotia

Early ca 60 cm high bush tomato with long thin leafs, ca 32 cm long and 15 cm wide. Juicy fine tomatoes in trusses of 5-6 with a tasty full flavour, the tomatoes have a little thick skin. Good yield of midsize firm tomatoes, the plant grows well in low temperature.

Low very early plant, ca 50-60 cm high with 15-20 cm long leafs. Strong stem that need good support from the weight of the tomatoes. Loaded with midsize tomatoes in trusses of 6-7, good sweet taste. Unique strain from Siberia that tolerate very low temperature and grow well in cold areas and give a good yield of tomatoes the whole season.

 

Unique early Russian strain, ca 60-70 cm high with big 30-38 cm long and 15-25 cm wide finely cut leafs. If you look at them from a little distance they look like carrot leafs. This plant doesn’t like it to wet, grow best in an open airy place with good drainage. If it rain much the plant can have some leaf diseases, but the plant are strong and usually recover and give a good but later harvest. A light red/orange juicy tomato with firm meat in trusses of 6, strong little acid good taste. The plant give a good harvest of midsize flat round beefsteaks that keeps well. The plant needs good support for the main stem; I grow them two and two so they can support each other. Very ornamental easy to grow plant, good plant to grow in pots for decoration on the balcony/patio. Silvery Fir Tree is the name SSE use; the real Russian name is Morkovnij, and its mean something like; carrot like or carrot shape leaf.

A quite low plant with a very steady stem, ca 125-145 cm high, short wide ca 20-30 cm long thin leafs. Meaty small beefsteaks tomatoes in long trusses with 15-25 on each, 5-8 on each higher up on the plant, flat round and slight ribbed with little thick skin. Firm juicy tomatoes with nice yellow/red striped flesh and a purple coloured centre. When the tomatoes start to mature they are first yellow, then with red markings and fully mature they are almost red with a star on top. Start harvest when the tomatoes start to have little red marks for best taste, they are tasty even when they are almost overripe. Tasty to slice in two pieces and eat with little salt.

Unusual plant, 180 cm high with ca 40 cm long wide leafs that cover well. Tiny strong stem that need good support, very strong tiny trusses that can take the heavy weight from the tomatoes without any problem. The tomatoes don’t let loose from the vine in the first time, best to cut them of the truss, so they don’t break. The first tomatoes are really big, almost round with a pointed end, later they are big and heart shaped, some smaller round tomatoes higher up on the plant. Pink coloured big tomatoes that are meaty right throw with little seeds. The tomatoes are very juicy with a good fresh taste.

Small tiny potato leaf plant ca 110 cm high from the Czech Republic (CESKÉ REPUBLIKY). The plant is well adapted to cool weather and easy to grow. Tomatoes in trusses of 6-8, the third are bigger with ca 15-37 tomatoes in the truss. The plant doesn’t take much room and could be planted close together in a row; they give a very good harvest of tasty sweet tomatoes the whole season.

Super Sioux is an improve version of Siux that was introduced in 1944. Juicy red/orange big meaty tomatoes, good balance taste. Short ca 120-130 cm high plant, ca 30 cm long and wide leafs that cover good. High yield of big tasty tomatoes on a healthy plant, grow well in cool temperature.

Strong growing plant with strong stem, grows over 300 cm. Very productive, the plant is full of small tomatoes, long trusses that grow bigger higher up. Tasty small cocktail tomatoes with a good full-bodied taste that last for long in the mouth. Highly productive, the plant needs good support from the weight of the tomatoes, and lots of compost in the soil to develop well. It is important to cut all the suckers and cut of the top of all trusses that will grow on, otherwise you might have a short boring bush with little tomatoes that start to mature 7-10 days later. Tommy Toe has in Australia two times been voted as the best red tomato (cherry) in big tomato taste competitions.

French tomato strain with very nice shiny tomatoes, little tiny ca 150-170 cm high plant with small ca 20-25 cm long and 18 cm wide leafs, tomatoes in trusses with 7-9 on each. This is a little tiny potato leaf strain from Poland, ca 180 cm high. The tomatoes are very meaty with a nice creamy flesh and a sweet mild taste. Many different shapes on the same plant, flat round little ribbed, smooth, to smaller little heart shape tomatoes. The colour reminds a little of pink/red raspberries.
