Ecologically grown tomato seeds for the hobby gardener

All seed plants are grown outside in Sweden zone 3 (US zone 5)

1 Packet tomato seeds: 15:- Swedish Kronor See order info

1 packet includes enough seeds for 25 tomato plants, unless otherwise noted . Plant that gives very little seeds includes enough seeds for 15 tomato plants.

All tomato seeds are organically grown in healthy soil with no use of pesticides or chemical fertilizers. The seed are of the best quality, selected by hand from the second truss of minimum 5 plants of each variety. Only fully mature disease free tomatoes have been used for seed. The seeds are fermented to avoid any disease that could be spread with the seeds. Note I have a limited quantity of tomato seeds in stock; choose an alternative sort with your order.

Numbers of days are counted from transplant of 6-9 weeks old plants until it’s time to start harvest. I never cut the top of the plants and the height are from plants that have grown freely and been properly prune. The length of leafs is a finger point of how close you can plant the tomatoes in a row, if the leafs are 30 cm you could plant the tomatoes with 30 cm between the plants in a row, if you cut of all suckers properly. The information height, length and number of days are only for plants that are grown outside in healthy good soil.

If you grow tomatoes in a greenhouse the result will be different, the temperature are higher day/night, the plant get more water, fertilizer etc, and the tomatoes usually have less taste. A tomato strain that grow to 140 cm outdoors could in a greenhouse grow over 200 cm. Big beef tomatoes grow faster in a greenhouse and mostly have another shape than tomatoes grown outside. The colour on dark (black) tomatoes usually gets a lighter colour in a greenhouse; they got darker and have more taste if they are grown outside. If you sit behind a window you probably not get so much colour from the sun.

The growing result depends of which growing technique you use. All information of each plant is how they develops for me, grown outside in Sweden in zone 3 (ca USDA zone 5).

Beduin

One healthy potato leaf plant, don’t grow so big, ca 160 cm high on a tiny stem that need good staking for the weight of the tomatoes. Good yield of very juicy tomatoes in trusses of 5-6, some double tomatoes, meaty with mild good taste. Purple to brown/red tomatoes with dark green shoulders. Sparsely with 22-30 cm long leafs. The tomatoes look almost like red Anjou pears.

Juicy and sweet flat round dark orange/red tomatoes with dark green neck and little black shoulders. Black Plum

Big very strong plant, grow over 200 cm on thick steady stem. Big leaf 35 cm that cover the plant well. High production of meaty paste tomatoes in trusses of 7-11, sometimes with one leaf in the end of the truss, some trusses need pruning, they want to grow on. The tomatoes have a plum/oval shape with mild good taste, dark red/brown inner colour. This strain reminds a little bit of Black Prince but it is little shorter ca 160- 170 cm high, ca 32 cm long wide little thin leafs. Oval to slight heart shape tomatoes with green neck and purple coloured top, in compact trusses with 7-8 on each. The tomatoes have a juicy brown/red flesh with green gel around the seeds, good full sweet taste. The plant is very healthy and productive. This strain is sold with several names, probably because of a misspelling in a SSE yearbook, price become prince.

Good yielding 170-190 cm high plant, thin 26-28 cm long and 20-22 cm wide leafs. The plant doesn’t take much room and have a strong stem that need good support from the weight of the tomatoes. Big meaty tomatoes with little seeds, in trusses with 7-12 tomatoes on each, little different tomato shapes from little oval to flat round. Juicy tomatoes with a strong good balance taste, in dry weather they have a sweeter taste. This is one of the better tomatoes in taste, one of my favourites.
